Stuart’s contribution to Raiders dates back to 2002 and he has been a dedicated club member, coach and umpire for over 23 years. 

Stuart’s umpiring achievements have earned him recognition locally and globally. He continues to represent Raiders as part of our summer umpiring crew, regularly taking on plating duties for senior games, whilst also excelling in the role of Umpire in Chief at WSA. In addition, Stuart umpires at Masters, State, National Championships, interstate and WBSC events. In March 2025 Stuart was recognised with WBSC accreditation (alongside his son Brett) and last year was awarded Victorian Umpire of the Year. 

Stuart willingly imparts his knowledge and experience at the grassroots level. He strives to educate and enhance rules knowledge, game mechanics and skills assessment. He is an advocate for umpires to excel and attain level accreditation. He displays a positive attitude and strong emphasis on presentation and behaviour of umpires both on and off the diamond. Many of our Raiders umpires, as well as others around Australia, have been mentored by Stuart and benefitted from his experience. 

Stuart remains a dedicated Raiders member and can always be relied upon to help out when needed. He has been found running training drills for our master’s players, helping with AGM set-up or picking up a scorebook. He has shown unwavering generosity, dedication and commitment to the Eastern Raiders Softball Club.He is well regarded and respected by all who know and work alongside him and a worthy recipient of Raiders Life Membership.
