USA Experience
by
Tiarne Ecker
I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to the USA to
play softball in June 2008. I travelled as part of a group of 13
girls, 3 from Waverley and 10 from South Australia. Our first
tournament was the June Bug Tournament in Colorado. We then went up
to Steamboat Springs where we participated in the Triple Crown
Training Camp and played in the Mountain Majic
Tournament. We did reasonably well here considering the standard we
were up against. We went to Denver to play in the Colorado State
Championships before heading to Los Angeles, California. Here we
played in the Red, White and Blue Tournament, but the standard was
just too good. In between tournaments, we had the chance to play
some ‘friendly’ matches, which gave us the opportunity to socialize
with some of the American girls. We finished the trip with free time
to go sightseeing. Overall it was a great experience and we all had
heaps of fun.
