On the road again...

The masters girls competed in Shepparton over the Queens Birthday weekend 2010. They didn't bring home the bacon but they sure had fun trying.

We congratulate and thank our perpetual trophy winners for the season

Club Service Award Kerry Trevethan
During the past season, as a match committee member Kerry initially assisted with getting teams organised during the preseason, appointing coaches etc within the match committee. During the season she acted as the coordinator for Div 1 players doubling up in B grade, and A reserve (and even A grade), and on a weekly basis did the chasing to see who was available to fill in. Pre Xmas while their coach was away, Kerry took over coordinating both the A and A reserve teams for nearly 4 weeks, managed to arrange coaches (or coach herself), all in addition to managing and playing with her B reserve team. She assisted Roger with the Div 1 players and availability as well. Without Kerry’s efforts, 3 or 4 of our senior teams would have been impacted in organisation and coordination during the season. She is a worthy recipient and has made a significant contribution to Eastern Raiders success.

On Diamond Award Samantha Di Paola
Sam embodied the spirit of club participation. Volunteered herself for any duties that needed fulfilling, assisting with Registration Day and fundraising days. As with all of Division 1, Sam played 2 games each Saturday and often more, filling in for teams that were short players.  Including racing onto the A grade diamond for the last night game of the season with only 1 minutes notice which meant they didn’t forfeit and in fact, won the game. Sam has played every possible eligible grade – the only Raiders player to do so. Down to Div 2, her own Div 1 and at least one game for every senior grade. A worthy recipient – leading the spirit of club participation at all levels.

WOW!!! an enormous congratulations to all who contributed to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal. $825 was a fantastic response from our softball community at Waverley.

Special thanks must be credited to the hardworking raiders committee and members who supplied the energy to sizzle sausages and sell lots of raffle tickets besides playing, umpiring, scoring, coaching and organising softball games. Also a huge thank you to our sponsors on the day Heathmont Butchers and Heathmont Baker's Delight.

Volunteer spirit!  Ever thought about helping out! Our club is the largest club within Waverley and this season we will have many teams competing throughout the season. The strength of the club is partly due to our dedicated committee members and the strong family atmosphere that is nurtured within the club. We are always looking for new helpers for general club duties, coaching, scoring or umpiring. We hold meetings once a month from June through to March and there are many roles large and small in the running of the club. Please consider this opportunity and get on board for the coming season. Let's continue to be one of the best clubs in Victorian softball. Talk to Claire Shelvey. See the Administration page for contact details for the club.
