Inaugural winner of the Des Smith Medal 2008

emily smethurst Congratulations to Em Smethurst the inaugural winner of the Des Smith Medal for 2008, the WSA A Reserve Most Valuable Player of the season.

Em's power hitting and pitching also won her an MVP award in Raiders A reserve team and the Batting Award in A grade. She has had an impressive season with the bat.

WSA Life Membership

Jacinta Poole was awarded a Life membership to Waverley Softball Association in recognition of her efforts and personal contribution to the development of the association over recent years. Eastern Raiders would like to congratulate Jacinta!

 Well deserved!

Congratulations to two club members who have contributed a significant amount throughout the season.

In 2007-08 this deserving Club Service award winner was seen around the club doing virtually everything. You may have seen her involved in membership transactions, uniform supplies, umpiring junior grades, fundraising activities, generally, all things related to Raiders softball club and making it tick over smoothly every week. All this is done with a smile and a laugh. Congrats Mary-Anne - you deserve the accolade!!!!

The winner of our On Diamond award has certainly earned this award with hard work and an enormous commitment to junior softball at our club. She has had a major role in energising and enthusing our Division 2 girls and has been rewarded with back to back Division 2 premierships. She has championed team bonding and friendship amongst all the girls with team picnics, a team newsletter, playing day awards, treats and I'm sure much much more that is behind the scenes. This dedicated club member also played and won a premiership in her own grade. An extremely well deserved award winner - congratulations Claire!!!

A family gold mine!

This photograph was inspired by an abundance of premiership gold medals for certain families in our club. Let me explain further. Eastern Raiders had their best season ever on the field, culminating in four premierships. Of the two senior grades that won gold, six players had seven daughters also in premiership winning teams. A total of 17 gold medals between them - what a golden moment in time for these families. Congratulations girls!!!!

Volunteer spirit!

Ever thought about helping out!

Our club is the largest club within Waverley and this season we will have many teams competing throughout the season. The strength of the club is partly due to our dedicated committee members and the strong family atmosphere that is nurtured within the club.

We are always looking for new helpers for general club duties, coaching, scoring or umpiring. We hold meetings once a month from June through to March and there are many roles large and small in the running of the club.

Please consider this opportunity and get on board for the coming season. Let's continue to be one of the best clubs in Victorian softball. Talk to Claire Shelvey, Mary-Anne Tyler or Caz di Paola. See the Administration page for contact details for the club.
